Is Naksh a dating app?
No, and it isn’t an astrology app either. Naksh is a Vedic matrimonial app, built for people looking for a life partner. There is no swipe deck, no infinite feed, and no left/right gesture. You receive up to five Vedic-compatible introductions a day and read each one properly, the chart and the profile, before any face appears.
Do I need to believe in astrology to use Naksh?
No. Plenty of people on Naksh treat Ashtakoot Milan as a cultural lens rather than a literal one, and that is fine. The eight kootas still produce a useful framing, temperament, friendship, instinct, long-arc stability, that is hard to surface from photos alone. Treat the score as one signal among many. And to be clear: Naksh carries no horoscopes, no predictions, no lucky numbers, and no remedies anywhere, the chart is computed for one purpose only, to measure how two people fit.
Is Naksh only for Hindus?
No. Anyone with a date and place of birth has a chart that can be read in this framework. We don’t ask about religion or restrict by it. We are explicit that the underlying tradition is Vedic, because that is honest, and we think it is interesting whether or not it is yours.
Is Naksh free?
Yes. Version 1 is completely free, no subscriptions, no in-app purchases, no paywalled compatibility detail, and no paid boosts. The daily five is never something you pay to expand. If we ever introduce paid features, it will be much later and only for added depth, never to buy access, visibility, or a bigger deck.
What if I don’t know my exact birth time?
A rough time still gives us most of what we need. The parts of your chart that couldn’t be read precisely will be flagged (your ascendant in particular is sensitive to birth time), and the Ashtakoot score will note the uncertainty. You can always update it later if you find your records.
How is the 36-point score computed?
Faithfully to the traditional Ashtakoot Milan. Eight kootas, weighted as: Varna (1), Vashya (2), Tara (3), Yoni (4), Maitri (5), Gana (6), Bhakoot (7), Nadi (8). Every match shows the underlying placements so you can see exactly why your score is what it is. The math is never hidden.
Do you have caste filters?
No. Naksh offers religion, community (ethno-linguistic, regional, or sect-based), language, and region preferences. We do not offer caste or varna filters.
What does “compatibility before photos” mean?
Detailed photos of a match are revealed only after you read the full Ashtakoot analysis and the rest of the profile. The chart and the profile lead. Faces follow. This is structural, not optional: there is no swipe-card stack and no "It’s a Match!" animation anywhere in the product.
When is Android launching?
We are a small team and chose to build the iOS version end-to-end first. Android is on the roadmap and the waitlist is open. Drop your email and we will write to you the morning it goes live.
