§ 01Overview, in plain English

Naksh is a matrimonials app. To prepare compatibility-led introductions we may ask for date, time and place of birth. We treat that data, and everything else you share, with care.

The short version of this policy:

  • We don't sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to brokers, not to anyone.
  • We don't train AI models on your conversations or your compatibility data.
  • We store your data in India and encrypt it in transit and at rest.
  • You can export everything we have on you, or delete it, from You · Settings · Account.
  • If you want a human, write to privacy@trynaksh.com and one will reply within 72 hours.

The long version follows. It is written to be readable. If anything is unclear, that is our fault — please tell us.

§ 02Who we are

"Naksh," "we," "us" and "our" mean TRADOMATE BV. We are the controller of your personal data under applicable privacy law.

Our registered office is available on request. Write to privacy@trynaksh.com for the current correspondence address.

Our Data Protection Officer can be reached at dpo@trynaksh.com.

§ 03What we collect

We collect four categories of information.

  • Account & identity — your phone number, name, gender, sexual orientation, and the photos you upload. A government-issued ID, used only for verification (we do not retain a copy after verification).
  • Compatibility inputs — date, time and place of birth, family context if you choose to share it, preferences, and any prompts you write.
  • Behaviour on the app — your daily decisions on introductions, who you matched with, who you reported, and aggregate usage data (sessions, screens, crashes).
  • Conversations — the chats you exchange with matches. These are end-to-end encrypted; we cannot read them.

We do not collect your contacts, your photo library, or your location continuously. We ask permission for the camera and a one-time city for compatibility setup, and that's it.

§ 04Why we collect it

Each piece of data has a single, declared purpose. We don't repurpose data we collected for one reason and quietly use it for another.

  • To run the app — your account, your profile, your matches, your conversations.
  • To prepare compatibility-led introductions — your compatibility inputs help generate a score and context for potential matches. Without them we cannot build the product.
  • To keep the app safe — to verify you are a real person, to investigate reports, and to remove people who break our rules.
  • To improve the app — aggregate, non-identifying metrics. We do not look at your chats or your individual matches in order to "improve" anything.
  • To meet legal obligations — where Indian law (or another applicable law) requires us to retain or disclose information.

§ 05Your compatibility data

Your date, time and place of birth can be sensitive. We treat them as such.

  • They are encrypted at rest with per-user keys.
  • They are never shown to other users in raw form — only derived compatibility context appears on profiles.
  • They are never used for ad targeting, because we do not run ads.
  • They cannot be requested by third parties. We will refuse government requests that lack legal force.

§ 06Who we share with

We share data with three narrow categories of recipient, and only what is necessary.

  • Service providers — cloud hosting (Amazon Web Services, Kolkata region), error reporting, SMS for OTP, and our identity-verification partner. Each is contractually bound to use your data only to perform the service we hired them for.
  • Other users — only the parts of your profile you have chosen to publish, and only to matches and members eligible to receive you as an introduction.
  • Authorities — when we are legally required to (a court order, a valid government request under the law). We publish the count of such requests in our annual Transparency Report.

We do not share data with advertisers, data brokers, or "audience" platforms. We do not use third-party ad tracking SDKs in the app.

§ 07Where we store data

Personal data is stored in an AWS India region. Backups are encrypted and stored in the same region. Where international transfers are required for service providers (e.g. error reporting), we use approved transfer mechanisms and minimise what crosses the border.

§ 08How long we keep it

We keep data only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected for, with these defaults:

  • Active accounts — for as long as your account is open.
  • Deleted accounts — purged within 30 days, with a minimal anonymised record retained where required by law (for example, reports under investigation).
  • Chats — kept while both parties are matched; removed within 30 days of either party unmatching or deleting their account.
  • Verification documents — discarded immediately after the verification result is recorded. We retain the result, not the document.

§ 09Your rights

Under the DPDPA, the GDPR (where applicable to you), and our own commitments, you have the right to:

  • Access — see what we hold about you.
  • Correct — fix anything that's inaccurate.
  • Delete — request that we remove your data. (Two-tap delete is also built into the app: You · Settings · Account · Delete.)
  • Export — download a portable copy of your data.
  • Withdraw consent — for any processing that depends on consent rather than a contract or legal obligation.
  • Complain — to the Data Protection Board of India, or your local supervisory authority.

To exercise any of these, email privacy@trynaksh.com. We will respond within 30 days, usually much faster.

§ 10Cookies & analytics

The app uses no third-party analytics SDKs. We collect only the minimum first-party telemetry needed to keep it running — crash reports, session counts, screen names.

The website (trynaksh.com) uses one privacy-respecting analytics provider — Plausible — which does not set cookies, does not track you across sites, and does not collect personal data. We use a single first-party cookie only to remember if you've dismissed our welcome banner.

§ 11Children

Naksh is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has registered, please write to safety@trynaksh.com and we will act immediately.

§ 12Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we will notify you in the app and by email at least 30 days before the change takes effect. Older versions remain available at trynaksh.com/legal/privacy/archive.

§ 13How to reach us

For any privacy question, request, or complaint:

  • By email: privacy@trynaksh.com
  • For DPO matters: dpo@trynaksh.com
  • For safety: safety@trynaksh.com

We read every message and a human will reply.
